Investment Fraud
Humberside police are warning people about Investment fraud. Fraudsters create fake Websites using official branding and logos from genuine companies. False advertising can appear on your social or business media platform and could even have fake endorsements by celebrities or known businesspeople. Friends or family on your Facebook profile may suggest they have invested, this doesn’t mean it is not a scam, as they could be a victim, or their profiles hacked.
Fraudsters are very convincing with the promise of doubling your investment money within a short period. They may persuade you to sign up via cryptocurrency investment (fake) website to achieve a greater profit. The fraudsters can even show you how your fake investment has grown. The fraudsters will be in communication with you via WhatsApp, telephone, or email. You may be asked for personal documents for identification purposes. You may be asked to pay a fee to remove your investment, you may be pressured to invest quickly or miss out on a one time offer – if it sounds too good to be true – think FRAUD.
If you have been a victim and lost money, call 101 and report it to Humberside Police.
