Elderly residents in the Grimsby area have been targeted by a fraudster who has been calling them, claiming to be a police officer.
The fraudster, who claimed to be from another police force, stated that he had detained a person connected to each victim they had contacted before directing them to withdraw amounts of money to be collected from their house, or, alternatively, asking them to provide bank details.
The police will never contact you out of the blue asking you to participate in an investigation that requires you to withdraw money from your bank and we remind you to never give out any personal details or banking information.
In raising awareness of this type of scam, FraudWatch have created a graphic highlighting this incident and ask that you share this with your networks as it could happen anywhere within the force area.
